The survey is a summary of public health conditions and challenges in Charleston County in the early 1920s. Areas addressed include child and maternal health; the condition of housing and schools; sanitation and water supply; communicable diseases such as typhoid, malaria, smallpox, venereal diseases, and others; and more. Statistical reports, budgets, and observations are included.
